It\u2019s a great device, right? With just a tiny drop of blood, it tells you whether your <strong>glucose levels<\/strong> are okay or if you need to take action.<\/p><p data-start=\"354\" data-end=\"679\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">But here\u2019s the <strong>important part:<\/strong> although glucometers are <strong>super useful tools, they\u2019re not perfect.<\/strong> There are plenty of things that can <strong>interfere with their readings<\/strong> and give you numbers that <strong>don\u2019t accurately reflect<\/strong> what\u2019s happening in your body. Yes, the <strong>weather<\/strong> can play a much bigger role than you might imagine.<\/p><p data-start=\"246\" data-end=\"441\">On the other hand, there are <strong>human errors.<\/strong> Because let\u2019s be honest: we don\u2019t always use the <strong>test strips<\/strong> as carefully as we should, and sometimes we even test without properly washing our hands\u2026<\/p><p data-start=\"443\" data-end=\"709\">And finally, there\u2019s our own <strong>body<\/strong>, with things like certain <strong>medications<\/strong> (e.g., acetaminophen, maltose, galactose, icodextrin) we take, or <strong>hematocrit levels<\/strong> \u2014very low or very high hematocrit values (anemia, dehydration, etc.)\u2014 which can also influence the readings.<\/p><p data-start=\"711\" data-end=\"839\">All of this can cause your glucometer to show a number that<strong> looks like everything is fine when it really isn\u2019t,<\/strong> or vice versa.<\/p><p data-start=\"841\" data-end=\"1071\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong>Think of it this way:<\/strong> the glucometer is like that friend who gives you advice. They\u2019re <strong>usually right<\/strong>, but not <strong>infallible<\/strong>. That\u2019s why it\u2019s <strong>so important<\/strong> to understand how these interferences work and what you can do to avoid
